FAQs
Are Results Immediate?
Many patients report improvement after 1 week, and even better results with each treatment.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Essentially, CoolPeel can be done on an area of the body you are looking to improve skin quality. The most commonly treated areas are face, neck, chest, and stretch marks.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
For best results, we advise our patients to have at least a series of three sessions, spaced out by about a month. We will schedule your next treatment before you leave the office. Maintenance treatments will vary depending on each patient.
Is There Downtime?
After your CoolPeel treatment, your skin will appear pink or have a sunburn feel with a grainy texture often referred to as a sandpaper feel. For the first 24 hours, you should take it easy. We will send you home with post care treatment instructions. It is recommended to stay out of the sun for 2 weeks after treatment.
Is Treatment Painful?
Not at all! CoolPeel is a virtually painless and easy treatment for most patients. If you are nervous or extra sensitive, we can offer a numbing cream prior to the procedure that should make your experience more comfortable. We also offer ProNox for an additional charge.
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling and bruising may be apparent in that time period.
- It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. All of these factors may increase risk of bruising and swelling.
- Starting Arnica supplements at least 2 days prior to injections may help with bruising.
- Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
- You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
- You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Post-Treatment Guidelines
- Redness or sensitivity might be present (most commonly lasts up to a few hours).
- Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness. Avoid blood thinning agents, as this can cause further bruising.
- Do NOT rub or touch the treated area for 4 hours following treatment.
- Do NOT wear anything tight around the area for 4 hours following treatment.
- Do NOT exercise or lift heavy objects for 4 hours after treatment.
- It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments (i.e. facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, micro-dermabrasion).
- It can take approximately 4-6 weeks for results to be seen. The effects will continue over the coming months. If the desired result is not seen in that time, you may need more session(s).
